Jayda is originally from Orange County and has worked in youth development programs for several years, including group homes, after-school programming, and college advising. She is a first-generation college student and received her undergraduate degree at CSU Fullerton, studying Human Services, where she developed her passion for serving her community and also had the opportunity to study abroad at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. She then continued her education to receive her Master’s in Peace and Justice Studies at the University of San Diego. Throughout her career she has worked and interned for several nonprofit organizations, domestically and abroad, with the goal of making the world a better place.
Jayda manages the College and Career Success team at First Graduate, and advises approximately 35 first generation students attending colleges across the country. Her coaching approach relies on building meaningful and supportive relationships, with the goal of empowering each student to reach their academic and personal goals.
Aside from working towards educational equity, Jayda is passionate about social justice issues, particularly in regards to gender and racial identity. She currently serves as a Rape Crisis Counselor with San Francisco Women Against Rape, where she advocates for survivors of sexual assault.
