San Francisco is an amazing and diverse city of creativity and innovation. It is also a city of disparity, inequity, and unequal opportunity. The Bay Area is home to so many colleges and universities—some of the best in the country—and yet to many of our neighbors, they seem impossibly out of reach.
Not having a college degree can mean a lifetime of hard work with little pay, perpetuating the cycle of poverty for another generation. Unfortunately, students whose parents did not graduate from college have only an 11% chance of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree. You and First Graduate change those odds–74% of our students graduate from college within six years.
Across San Francisco, students are getting ready for another year of learning and growing, thanks to your help.
With help from First Graduate advisors, they’re also preparing for the long haul. From choosing classes and doing homework to exploring college fit and potential careers, the students you support are working towards that hard-earned college degree.
With people like you supporting them, there’s no doubt these bright, determined students will succeed. Donate today to make sure they start (and finish) the school year right, getting closer to that college degree.
First Graduate is a college access and success program that helps students become the first in their families to graduate from college ready to launch careers that are meaningful to them.
It’s unlike any other program out there – here’s why:
