Exploring the Possibilities

Exploring the Possibilities, which took place on May 20, 2009, was an innovative career exploration event designed to provide students of low-income and non-college educated families with an opportunity to learn about how a college education opens up career opportunities.

A collaborative venture of First Graduate® and the local alumni clubs of Harvard, Stanford and Georgetown Universities, as well as the Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco, and CollegeTrack San Francisco, “Exploring the Possibilities” brought together over 60 students in interactive presentations from successful professionals in over a dozen different fields. The event included opening remarks by the Honorable Sara Martinez Tucker, the former U.S. Under Secretary of Education and former CEO of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, who will be the First in Family honoree at our upcoming Cap and Gown event. The Under Secretary was eager to participate in this event as an opportunity to address aspiring first-generation college graduates directly.
