Hour of Code @ First Graduate

Over the weekend First Graduate® hosted an Hour of Code event that was attended by 15 students and their families.

The Hour of Code is a global movement that has reached tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Last year there were more than 32,000 events around the world, including 15 million participants, 10 million of whom were girls! The event consists of tutorials (available in 30 languages) that aim to teach people ages 4 to 104 the basics of computer coding in just one hour.

Katie Herstein (principal and owner of e-lucidate, and a tireless First Graduate® volunteer and donor) organized the event along with Jon Herstein (Senior Vice President at Box) and Lucy Mendel (Software Engineer at Indiegogo). All three were able to speak with our students about working with professional coders, how they use coding in their work, and how they got to be where they are.

The students picked up coding effortlessly, and who knows, one of them might have taken their first step towards becoming the next great software engineer. Stay tuned!
